Tri-Valley Rotary : West Side Story Musical Sing-along




What is "West Side Story" about?
West Side Story is the award winning adaptation of the classic romantic tragedy, Romeo and Juliette. The feuding families become two warring New York City gangs- the white Jets led by Riff and the Puerto Rican Sharks, led by Bernardo. When Riff's best friend (and former Jet) Tony (Richard Beymer) and Bernardo's younger sister Maria (Natalie Wood) meet at a dance, no one can do anything to stop their love and Maria and Tony begin meeting in secret. Soon after, the Skarks and Jets plan a rumble that goes terribly wrong and before the lovers know what's happened, tragedy strikes and doesn't stop until the climactic and heartbreaking ending.

What is a sing-along?
The Tri-Valley Rotary will be presenting the film version of the broadway hit musical "West Side Story". The audience is encouraged to sing along with the musical portions of the film. This is your chance to take advantage of a rare opportunity to make noise in a crowded theater without getting thrown out. Don't worry if you don't know the lyrics. Karaoke style titles will appear on the bottom of the screen to help you out.
No hype. No pressure. It's your choice. You don't have to sing like a rock star. Just sit back, relax, and enjoy the show. Here is what one reviewer said about the Tri-Valley Rotary sing-along events: "It's uplifting and fun!"
